Maintenance Adviser at Cowan

Cowan International is recruiting a Maintenance Advisor for its client, an internationally recognized mining company based in West Africa. 

The Maintenance Advisor is part of the Technical Maintenance Group and reports to the Technical Maintenance Group Manager.

This position will oversee and improve skill levels, act as an advisor to superintendents and supervisors, and implement preventive maintenance principles and the company's business system.

Responsibilities 

• Provides technical expertise and support for site technical and fixed assets
• Ensures availability of all assets within cost and security parameters
• Provides technical assistance in the evaluation of all equipment and fixed assets already in place, and future replacements
• Supports the management of fixed budgets and investment budgets and assists departments with their operating budgets
• Provides training to all departments of the Technical and Maintenance Group to increase the quality of service and knowledge of new technologies
• Ensures a safe working environment

Experience and Skills

An industry recognized certificate, e.g. ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) or Country Competency Card, is required

• Minimum of 15 years of experience in field mechanics, equipment handling and conveyor maintenance, and,
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial workshop management and OEM operations
• Expertise in maintenance of handling equipment
• Expertise in hydraulic systems (load sensing), electrical/electronic systems (gas, motors), pneumatic systems
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures and the preparation of repair estimates
• Ability to create an atmosphere of customer acceptability and trust
• Good communicator and strong in leadership
• Bilingual: French/English required
