Maintenance Assistant Gr 2 Mechanical at Sasol

Purpose of Job

• To support with the maintenance of mechanical / electro-mechanical / electro-mechanical systems and equipment.
• To operate mechanical / electro-mechanical devices and systems, and accurately and efficiently collect field data to ensure optimum productivity.

Key Accountabilities

• Operational, Financial and Technical Results: Assist Artisans on all types of pumps, fans and blowers. Housekeeping -Conduct daily lubrication inspections and topping up oil and greasing of pump / blower / fan bearing housing.
• Leadership and Growth Results: To support Sasol values and goals Share knowledge with colleagues. Live safety
• Management Results: Comply to safety standards / procedures Identify all unsafe conditions and bring under the attention of management Perform basic job execution planning w.r.t. tools, consumables
• Customer and Relationship Results: Feedback to customer (plant maintenance / production). Communicate with customer concerning machine condition, defects as/when required.
• Innovation and Improvement Results: Suggest and implement innovative ideas to make work faster, simpler, better.

Formal Education

• Grade 12 with Maths and Science or NQF2 (MUST)
• Valid Code 8 or Code B drivers licence (MUST)

Work Experience

• 2-3 Years’ experience in a maintenance environment.
• Familiar with rotating equipment, eg pumps, bearings etc
• Basic hand tools knowledge
• Basic knowledge on oils and grease
• Basic knowledge on gaskets and gasket cutting
• Must be able to do standby and work overtime
