Maintenance Planner at Country Bird Holdings Ltd (CBH)

Job Advert Summary    

• Supreme Processing is seeking a highly skilled and detail orientated Maintenance Planner to support our maintenance and engineering teams in ensuring optimal plant performance and equipment reliability within our processing plant. This role requires strong leadership, excellent technical expertise, and the ability to ensure maximum plant uptime, safety compliance, and operational efficiency.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for effective planning, scheduling, and coordination of all maintenance activities within the plant. This role ensures maximum equipment uptime and reliability by driving preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, managing maintenance workflows through CMMS/DMS systems, and ensuring the availability of required resources, spares, and contractor support.

Minimum Requirements    

• Trade Test (Millwright or Fitter) essential
• 5–7 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing or food processing environment, preferably poultry
• Minimum 3–4 years’ experience in maintenance planning or scheduling
• Proven experience working with CMMS/DMS systems (SAP, Pragma or similar)
• Strong equipment knowledge: mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, pneumatics, hydraulics, and automation
• Good understanding of HACCP, ISO, and food safety requirements

Duties and Responsibilities    

• Develop detailed weekly and monthly maintenance schedules aligned to production plans
• Plan and coordinate all preventive and predictive maintenance activities
• Ensure all work orders are fully planned (labour, tools, materials, permits) prior to execution
• Continuously optimise maintenance plans to reduce downtime and improve efficiency
• Create, manage, and monitor job cards within CMMS/DMS systems (e.g., SAP, Pragma)
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, history, and asset data
• Manage maintenance backlog and prioritise critical work orders
• Ensure data integrity for reporting and decision-making
• Coordinate with Maintenance Foremen and Supervisors to allocate labour effectively
• Ensure availability of required technical skills for all planned work
• Source and coordinate external contractors where required
• Ensure contractors comply with safety and food safety standards
• Identify and plan for critical spare parts requirements
• Collaborate with stores to maintain optimal stock levels
• Reduce emergency purchases through effective planning
• Monitor and control maintenance-related inventory costs
• Analyse equipment performance, breakdown trends, and downtime data
• Support root cause analysis (RCA) and implementation of corrective actions
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability
• Contribute to reliability-centred maintenance strategies
• Ensure all planned maintenance activities comply with OHS Act and LOTO procedures
• Integrate HACCP, GMP, and FSSC requirements into maintenance planning
• Ensure maintenance activities do not compromise product quality or food safety
• Participate in audits and ensure compliance with legal and company standards
• Compile and submit daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports
• Track KPIs such as maintenance compliance, backlog, downtime, and equipment performance
• Maintain asset registers, SOPs, and maintenance documentation
• Liaise with Production, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to align priorities
• Participate in planning and production meetings
• Communicate maintenance schedules, risks, and progress effectively
• Ensure smooth coordination to minimise production disruptions
