Develop structured preventive maintenance plans and strategies.
Build high quality job packs for execution teams.
Lead the migration of maintenance planning processes from Excel into SAP PM.
Facilitate the weekly maintenance planning and scheduling meeting.
Ensure all work orders are properly planned prior to scheduling.
Develop weekly schedules aligned with production requirements.
Manage the maintenance backlog and prioritization process.
Plan all plant shutdown maintenance activities.
Develop shutdown work scopes.
Ensure all parts, labour and contractors are prepared in advance.
Track shutdown performance against plan.
Ensure all materials required for maintenance work orders are identified and reserved.
Work closely with stores to ensure spare parts availability before scheduled work.
Improve engineering productivity through structured planning.
Ensure technicians receive clear job instructions and job packs.
Reduce wasted maintenance hours due to poor preparation.

The ideal candidate must have a completed Matric and possess a minimum Diploma or Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering. SAP experience and MS Projects experience would be an advantage. Must have at least one-year relevant experience within manufacturing or a plant environment.

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for developing, implementing and continuously improving the plant maintenance planning and scheduling system using SAP PM. The role ensures that all maintenance work is properly planned, resourced, scheduled and executed in a controlled manner to maximize plant reliability, reduce breakdowns and optimize engineering productivity. The role will lead the transition from Excel-based planning to a fully structured SAP PM maintenance planning system, aligned with World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles. The planner will be responsible for building high-quality job plans, managing the maintenance backlog, coordinating shutdown maintenance and ensuring that maintenance work is executed safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to production.
