Maintenance Practitioner Instrumentation (Limpopo) at Samancor Chrome

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

• To maintain and optimize field instruments, plant automation including signal distribution, PLC systems as well as IT interfaces and coordinate and manage support activities in responsible area.

SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY

• Identify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
• Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
• Comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)
• Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status
• 5S Management

• Liaise with internal and external suppliers 

BUSINESS PROCESSES

• Apply fault finding techniques and contribute to the root cause failure analysis
• Complete work orders, create notifications and provide feedback on SAP
• Conduct regular plant inspections, identify and rectify inefficiencies
• Coordinate planned maintenance activities
• Maintain instrumentation documentation
• Maintain and repair all levels of instrumentation on components and equipments
• Make changes on Control System, PLC and SCADA software
• Contribute and assist in designing Control System drawings
• Maintain Control System drawings
• Provide inputs to Process Control
• Assist with capital projects
• Liaise with other sections and departments
• Implementation and improvement of technology
• Maintenance and fault finding in a modern production environment, utilizing Instrumentation Control Systems
• Software development on programmable controllers and SCADA system
• Improvement and optimization of existing equipment

Requirements

Minimum qualifications:

• Relevant Degree or Diploma
• N3 Certificate studying towards N4 (internal)
• 4 years' relevant experience, preferably 1 year supervisory experience 
• Siemens PLC Control systems and SCADA systems experience
• Drivers License (Minimum B/Code 8)

Additional qualifications:

• Maintaining Siemens S7 & PCS7 PLC Control systems and programming
• Process Automation equipment
• Static Weighing systems/Belt scales
• Endress & Hauser equipment
• Profibus DP network
• Instrumentation field devices
• ESCA registration will be advantageous
• Hydraulic systems control
