    Maintenance Specialist - Harrismith

    Position Summary

    In this role you will be responsible to execute predictive, preventive, and reactive maintenance activities and implement relevant maintenance strategy tools to make assets reliable at an optimal cost while improving safety and quality.

    A day in the life of a Maintenance Specialist:

    • Maintain Assets
    • Execute with quality the plant maintenance program in responsibility according to the planning scheduling routine.
    • Perform safety risk analysis to ensure all activities are executed safely.
    • Ensures and promotes a positive Safety and Quality culture and adherence to all Company principles and policies as well as local laws, reinforces the safety culture through actions and attitude.
    • Improve Asset Performance
    • Improve asset performance by implementation of maintenance strategy tools and analyzing operational losses (breakdowns, process failures, waste, rework etc.)
    • Implement defined counter measures to eliminate root causes.
    • Fosters a continuous improvement culture, collaborates with peer Production Team/Area Operators, supports cross-fertilization of manufacturing best practices, knowledge, standards, and improvements across the production lines and working areas.
    • Competency Building
    • Technician is competent to self-manage the maintenance, and drive improvement activities based on the cost opportunities, with minimum or no supervision.
    • Coach and train operators to build autonomy in execution of key standard routines, troubleshooting, repair and basic maintenance.
    • Leverage digital tools (e.g., AMM Mobile, predictive maintenance analytics) in maintenance to optimise maintenance and improve asset performance.
    • Owns his/her development plan and supports new members to develop their competences through training, coaching and feedback.

    What will make you successful?

    • Experience in a maintenance area as a maintenance technician (min 2 years) or Relevant technical college qualification (mechanical, electrical, automation etc).
    • Knowledge of SAP system and AMM.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.                                                                                   
    • Strong communication skills.
    • Decisive in decision making but knows when to ask for help.
    • Strong accountability.
