    Manager: Agriculture

    Job Purpose

    The Manager Agriculture (MA) is seen as a specialist within NCB to drive agricultural growth in the Region and or Province with certain key responsibilities. The purpose of a Manager Agriculture is to drive and achieve growth in market share and profitability through specialist input that supports the Agric strategy and promote the Nedbank brand. The strategy of the Agricultural team is to assist the Bank in achieving the highest market share in primary and Secondary Agric through growth in assets, liabilities, and profit. One of the division’s key objectives is to enhance the return on economic capital employed through the principle-based and efficient deployment of capital, risk propensity, pricing, marketing, and rewards. The MA is also responsible for the development of key stakeholder relationships (Internal and External); establish key new relationships and build on existing relationships; represent Nedbank at relevant Agric forums; explore & conclude synergies and relevant business opportunities with internal and external stakeholders as well as provide professional financial input and risk assessment through Specialist Agric reports and recommendations.

    Job Responsibilities

    •   Give strategic direction for business growth through external and internal stakeholder engagements, Marketing initiatives and quantifying risk through industry papers, investigations, and viability studies. and liaison with local authorities.
    •   In terms of financial contribution to the Business, the MA is responsible for:
    •   The execution of regionally driven tactical initiatives, aligned to the National Agric growth strategy, to grow the Business Unit’s assets organically & from new client acquisitions. 
    •   The management and input into Credit Risk pricing. 
    •   Be co-accountable for improvement of cross-sell focus across respective Agric portfolios through dedicated collaboration efforts.
    •   The effective utilization of current Agric tailored products/services. 
    •   Address and minimize fee leakage through key management actions together with Area Sales Managers. 
    •   Ensure regional focus and execution on driving BEE opportunities in respective regions.
    •   Manage and initiate regional management actions to address risk quality of book as well as ensuring alignment to BU financial target
    •   A key function of the MA is to drive positive shift in Market Share through:
    •   Effective implementation of the Agric Strategy through conduct of external market analysis and internal situational assessment of the region. 
    •   Provide input into Provincial and Regional business plans to determine appropriate investment, disinvestment and retention on a sub-sector and geographical basis. 
    •   Conduct ongoing competitor analysis of product/service offerings and identify current product deficiencies and market opportunities. 
    •   Formalization and execution of appropriate Provincial and Regional marketing plans and initiatives to grow market share in the Agric sector. 
    •   Formalization and execution of targeted client acquisition through specific product and promotional initiatives. 
    •   Maintain and grow existing relationships with high-net-worth clients and to profile self as well as Agric CVP in geographical regions
    •   To enhance productivity and execution the MA is responsible for:
    •   The identification, co- development & co-implementation of innovative initiatives as well as step change interventions where appropriate. 
    •   Standardize, align, and implement all processes specific to Agric to achieve national uniformity.  manage internal reporting. 
    •   Provide professional financial input and risk assessment through Specialist Agric reports and recommendations. 
    •   Alignment and application of Agric operating model in the business. 
    •   And being co-responsible for the credit application process

    Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

    • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
    • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

    Essential Qualifications

    • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
    • BSC Agric Economy Degree
    • Hons B Agric Degree (Agric Economy)
    • B Comm Agric Economics Degree

    Minimum Experience Level

    • 2-3 years Agricultural finance experience or work experience as an Agricultural Economist in Agricultural Financing and/or Agricultural Economic Advisory business
