Job Description:
As the Geology Manager, you will lead the Geology teams to deliver safe, productive outcomes in-line with agreed plans, operating standards and legal requirements and data analytics which will help us to ensure realization of Burning Ambition, Zero Harm, Elimination of Fatalities, Life of Asset Plan and advancement of Future Smart Mining. 

The focus areas for this role will be to:

• Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities
• Developing discipline-specific plans/systems to reduce exposure to discipline-specific risks
• Monitoring and ensure effectiveness of discipline Safety & Health systems, 
• Coordinate the  geological inputs to the BU strategy,  Life of Asset Plan and Budget; implement BU strategy within Geology discipline and co-ordinate Resource definition activities including drilling, modelling, classification and reporting
• Providing the business systems for discipline
• Operational Planning, which includes Rock Characterization, Interpretation and Modelling, Material Definition, Planning and Design, Marketing and Contractor Management
• Work Management of hydrogeological and geometallurgical activitie, training/ coaching/ CDP/ succession planning of mining geologists, mine to design and compliance to plan
• Feedback and continuous improvement of the mineral value chain reconciliation
• Create a purpose-led, high-performing culture, and legislative, regulatory, permitting and BU compliance of the Geology discipline
• Manage delivery of the sustainability activities as relevant to the discipline
• This role is in the Geosciences Department at a Band 5 Level reporting to Senior General Manager 

Qualifications:

• Relevant Degree in Geosciences (Relevant to the asset)
• Post Graduate studies in Mining Geosciences or related field (desirable)
• Post Graduate studies in Business Management (advantageous) 
• Registered member of a relevant professional association/organisation as a Competent Person

Technical Experience and requirements: 

• At least ten years post graduate qualification experience relevant for the role, in which 5 years must be in managerial role

Technical Experience and requirements:

• New technologies and their impact on operational activities within scope of role
• Commercial/business drivers in discipline, understanding of business performance variability and underlying causes that define subsequent actions
• Development and application of solutions to the discipline value chain to ensure productive and safe work and achieve plans
• Basic negotiation management with regulatory bodies, institutes and business partners
• Identification of key strategic risks and opportunities that could materially impact the operation and implementation of appropriate processes and systems to mitigate/leverage them
• Translation of strategy and ambition into tailored messages for individuals/teams
• Active listening and consultation to uncover deep meaning, issues and opportunities
