Degree/Diploma in General Nursing or basic R425 qualification in Nursing that allows registration with South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse. A post-basic qualification in Health Services Management/Nursing Administration registered with SANC.
A minimum of ten (10) years appropriate/recognizable experience in Nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing. At least five (5) years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable experience at Assistant Manager level.
Applicants are expected to submit their current SANC Annual Practicing Certificate. Applicant must be in a position of a valid South African driver’s license, must be able to work under pressure, have strong leadership skills, good verbal and written communication skills, sound interpersonal skills, project management skills, financial and human resource management skills.
Computer literacy. Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary context. Analytic thinking, independent decision making and problem-solving skills.
Duties :
Provide strategic leadership towards realization of both institutional and departmental goals and objectives. Create and maintain a working and learning environment that will foster growth and improvement in nursing practice and health care services. Create and maintain a working inter-professional and multi-disciplinary relationship with nursing and other stakeholders.
Coordinate the review of nursing interventions through comprehensive and on-going assessment and risk analysis. Utilize information technology and other information management systems to enhance service delivery. Coordinate the provision of Nursing Education and In-service Education and compliance to nursing practice.
Ensure advocacy for the patients, nursing ethos and professionalism. Develop and monitor the implementation of guidelines, programs and regulations pertaining to nursing care.
Establish and participate in an inter-professional and multi-disciplinary team for effective and efficient service delivery. Support nursing and health care research to improve the quality of care. Lead the implementation of the National imperatives to improve health services.
Ensure that a comprehensive nursing treatment and care service is delivered to patients in a cost effective, efficient and equitable manner by Central Hospitals, including the overall management of nursing services (i.e. operational, human resources and finance of the hospital/institution). Realization of ideal hospital. Attend meetings and training as approved by manager. Management of personnel performance and review thereof. (Contracting, midyear review and final)
