    Manager (Production) Furnaces

    In this role you will be responsible for:

    • Lead and manage all production activities across two furnace production units, ensuring optimal plant performance and production continuity
    • Develop and execute short-, medium- and long-term production plans aligned to business and operational targets
    • Drive furnace performance, including throughput, recovery, product quality, power efficiency and furnace stability
    • Ensure availability of raw materials, consumables and operational resources required to achieve production targets
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, cost optimisation and operational excellence
    • Ensure production operations comply with company policies, operating standards and metallurgical best practices
    • Manage departmental budgets, cost control initiatives and contractor performance
    • Ensure compliance with all HSEC, legal and operational governance requirements
    • Support root cause analysis and problem-solving for major production interruptions and process deviations

    About you:

    • Relevant Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or related technical field (NQF 7 or higher)
    • Minimum 7 years’ relevant experience in heavy industry, pyrometallurgical, ferro-alloys or smelting operations
    • At least 3 years’ experience in a middle management or superintendent leadership role
    • Expertise and proven track record in furnace operations, production optimisation and metallurgical process control across large-scale operational environments
    • Strong leadership, stakeholder management and decision-making capability
    • Knowledge of and experience in HSEQ systems, operational risk management and statutory compliance
    • Strong financial acumen, cost control and business performance management skills
    • Leadership / Management Development programmes will be advantageous
    • Innovative, practically oriented and able to perform effectively in a high-pressure operational environment
