Manager: Recoveries & Liabilities at Santam Insurance

WHAT WILL YOU DO

• The successful incumbent will be responsible for a department that deals with third party subrogation recoveries and liability claims arising primarily from motor vehicle accidents. This role will include managing, supporting, and developing a team of people to ensure superior service delivery and quality of work. In addition, the incumbent will manage individuals within the team, manage the financial performance and monitor process compliance (essentially overseeing that the key performance indicator levels are acceptable for their team).

The responsibilities will include establishing and maintaining the quality standards that drive client delight and cost efficiency and deliver first time right service excellence. 

WHAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE

• Manage and report on unit’s performance.
• Document and manage LEO trends and deviations.
• Ensure client satisfaction improvements using various service metrics.
• Mandate to handle claims, by exception.
• Establish and maintain the quality standards that drive client delight and cost efficiency.
• Continually review and measure team activities against targets, standards, and service levels, agreeing and taking action to improve capability and performance, so that the team achieves its maximum potential.
• Management of the National uninsured recoveries portfolio.
• Management of  the division’s Litigation on a national basis. 
• Management of various specialist portfolios including Santam Direct and the Heavy Haulage portfolio recovery and liability claims
• Internal Adjudication for matters within the Group

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Matric/ Grade 12
• Relevant Law degree
• Admitted attorney (advantageous)
• Minimum 5-10 years short-term insurance experience.
• At least 5 years in a management position with a proven track record of successful people leadership as well as a proven track record of successful business management.
