Manager: Research Records and Knowledge Management
Honours Degree in Archives and Records Management or relevant qualification at NQF level 8;
5 years’ relevant records and knowledge management experience of which 2 years must be at management/supervisory level within a similar environment;
Proven experience in the management and implementation of electronic documents and records management systems;
NARSSA Records Management training certificate;
Knowledge of information-related legislation that governs the public sector;
Understanding of electronic systems and the research environment;
Experience in project administration;
Credibility to interface with management, researchers and support staff;
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of proficiency in English;
Analytical problem-solving skills;
Demonstrable initiative, integrity and maturity;
The ability to function independently and under pressure;
A commitment to excellence, attention to detail and meticulous and accurate execution of tasks;
Must be able to work in a diverse and multi-cultural environment; and
National Archives and Records Services South Africa (NARSSA) records management training certificate will be considered advantageous.
Duties & Responsibilities
Coordinates holistic Records Management Programme for the HSRC
Develop and implement the Records Management Policy and Procedures
Coordinate the develop the Document Retention and Disposal Guidelines
Conduct Records Management awareness and training sessions
Plans, organizes, directs, reviews, coordinates, and establishes controls for all HSRC records activities
Coordinates with HSRC business unit’s managers to ensure records creation, maintenance, use, and disposition are in accordance with the National Archives Act (NARSA) and other legislative requirements
Implement and manage electronic document management systems (EDMS) to support the storage, retrieval, and preservation of digital records
Maintain the records management system, archiving policy, and administration process in the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2000.
Develop and implement the HSRC Knowledge Management Programme, maintain Knowledge and Research Hubs,
Drive the Knowledge Management Champions Programme,
Provide administrative support, and performing ad hoc duties.
Assist in document control reports compilation,
Ensure quality assurance, storing confidential information, electronically filing documents, and controlling incoming and outgoing correspondences.
