    Manager: Trade

    Purpose of the Job:

    • To proactively and effectively drive the key sectors of the Western Cape economy in support of the achievement of the Wesgro strategic and operational objectives.

    Requirements:

    • This position is suited to a professional in possession of a Degree in Economics, International Relations, Export/Trade or equivalent competence, coupled with at least three years working experience in a similar environment
    • Minimum of three years’ experience.
    • French and Mandarin Language proficiency advantageous
    • Understanding of marketing and communication principles, strategies and techniques.
    • Knowledge of the trade companies doing business. internationally from the Western Cape, and related challenges.
    • Knowledge of high growth export markets and emerging markets and related consumer trends and standards, as well as the international trade environment, must form an integral part of the applicant’s professional profile.
    • Contacts and networks in the respective markets will be an added advantage.
    • Sound understanding of Western Cape economy landscape.
    • Knowledge of relevant target countries will be advantageous.
    • A valid Code B driver’s license and passport.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Report to Senior Trade Manager, the Trade Manager will play a supporting role in formulating the trade portfolio strategy aligned to the Wesgro strategy, as well as managing and implementing trade promotion and facilitation.
    • Facilitate trade related events (outward/inward missions, seminars and events) for Western Cape exporters.
    • Match foreign buyers to local exporters.
    • Develop programmes in collaboration with Wesgro’s partners.
    • Keep abreast of export-related incentive schemes of the Department of Trade and Industry.
    • Liaise with established and potential exporters and build strong relationships with these core stakeholders.
    • Liaise with international importers and build strong relationships with these core stakeholders.
    • Develop networks, both national and internationally, with relevant partner organisations.
    • Ensure all Wesgro collateral is of the highest standard, and proof checked.
    • Perform ad hoc duties that may arise from time to time that will improve Wesgro’s trade promotion ability.
    • Ensure Wesgro research is communicated, through compelling content using available communication channels.
