    Manager: Training (Centurion)

    OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    • Manage the aviation training, the inspectors responsible for processing all new ATO applications, auditing all approved training organisations in accordance with the SACAA regulations. Approval of SACAA curriculum and Syllabus. Approval of training material. Approval and certification of FSTDs.

    Practical Training Oversight System

    • Develop and manage a system to oversee the practical standards of all aviation personnel licensed under Parts 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 68, 69, 71,72 and 101 of the CAR and to ensure this complies with ICAO and international best practice.
    • Ensure the oversight of designated examiners and instructors involved with practical /training of aviation personnel.

    Training Standards Development

    • Develop, review, and implement practical training standards for aviation personnel license holders
    • Ensure that the developed standards comply with ICAO and meet the company objectives.

    CATS and CAR Development

    • Develop, implement, and review applicable CATS and CAR to ensure that the practical training standards are up to date.
    • Manage any CAR and CATS amendments relating to the practical /training of aviation personnel.

    Management of Direct Reports

    • Manage key performance areas of directly reporting personnel to ensure the achievement of their agreed objectives.
    • Mentor and monitor employees to fulfil their responsibilities within regulated standards and timeframes
    • Develop a culture of high performance that demonstrates SACAA core values and competencies
    • Facilitate skills development to ensure retention of staff

    Industry Liaison

    • Liaise with industry and record problem-solving solutions and convey knowledge to the industry to allow for the improvement of standards.
    • Manage the participation of the industry in the development of practical examination/testing/training standards a
    • Manage the participation of the industry in the development of the oversight system
    • Portray a professional and positive image of the CAA.

    Requirements
    EDUCATION

    MINIMUM

    • NQF Level 6 Diploma in Management or Business Administration Or Engineering plus valid CPL with Grade 2 Flight Instructor Rating or ATP License or Air Traffic Controller License or Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License or Appropriate SAAF Pilot with Category B Instructor rating.

    IDEAL

    • NQF Level 7 Qualification plus relevant aviation license as per above

    EXPERIENCE 

    •  4-7 Years experience in a Civil Aviation Environment OR
    •  2-3 Years experience as an Authorised Officer in an Aviation Environment
