PURPOSE:
- To perform maintenance on all equipment/machines/systems/infrastructure and Specialised equipment by means off Best Practice Fault Finding techniques and processes, equipment and instruments.
Minimum Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade 12/Standard 10 English (Essential/Minimum)
- N3 Relevant Trade Subjects (Essential/Minimum)
- Trade: Instrumentation Mechanician MQA/Q (Essential/Minimum)
- Computer Literacy Applicable Software (Essential/Minimum)
- Certificate: Basic Management Program (Essential/Minimum)
- N4: Technical (Recommended/Desirable or)
- N4: Instrumentation Mechanician (Recommended/Desirable or)
- N4: Instrumentation (Recommended/Desirable)
EXPERIENCE:
- 3 years Applicable technical and maintenance experience within a heavy industry/production/mining environment (Essential/Minimum)
REQUIREMENTS:
- Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
- Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
- Pub Driv Lic:Code B ( Essential/Minimum )
- Competence: Core MQA Modules Assessments (Essential/Minimum)
- Competence: On the Job MQA Modules Asses (Essential/Minimum)
- Competence: MS Office Relevant Package (Essential/Minimum)
Duties & Responsibilities
The incumbent will inter alia be responsible for the following:
Administration and Support Services
- Assist in compiling content of job cards
- Assist foreman in day-to-day maintenance operations
Best Practice and Knowledge Management
- Remain abreast of new innovations in equipment and methods, evaluate and aligned with process needs
- Conduct applicable on-the-job training to coach and transfer knowledge to artisans
Compliance, Governance and Assurance
- Adhere to Safety Health Environment and Community (SHEC) programmes at all times
- All incidents and accidents are reported immediately to foreman according to set procedures
- All work/maintenance work is done according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), regulations and standards
- All necessary SHEC precautions are taken when working on production equipment
- Tools and equipment are inspected daily prior to being used according to SHEC practices and statutory requirements
- Work area is cleaned and environment restored to its original state after completion of a job Continuous Improvement
- Stay abreast of latest and new Technology in field of competence
- Develop and implement technology through analyses of current processes procedures and techniques and implement through Project process
- Thorough knowledge of the theories, standard practices, materials and processes of the craft
- Expert working knowledge of the assembly, installation, alteration, repair and maintenance of applicable equipment and systems
Equipment Operations and Control
- Ensure effective and preventative maintenance management of structures, specialized infrastructure, machines, systems and specialized equipment and digital technology
- Assist with coordination of shutdowns, and ensure compliance with housekeeping standards
- Assist with maintenance cost management
- Ensure compliance to legislation
Maintenance, Process and Equipment Efficiency
- Adhere to planned maintenance schedules
- Use available resources optimally
- Assume responsibility for quality of maintenance and new installations in functional area
- Complex diagnosis/troubleshooting and/or repair on mechanical equipment where independent decision making will be critical
- High level maintenance, installation and testing of sophisticated equipment, machinery, etc.
- Execute pro-active inspection and fault finding as part of preventative maintenance work
Routine Work Management
- Ensure the execution of maintenance plans
- Balance workload between routine and scheduled maintenance and breakdown recovery
- Assist with Project planning in area of responsibility and expertise
- Attend meetings and effectively communicate plant related issues
- Ensure delivery of service in alignment with agreed Company and external Service Level Agreements (SLA) standards
Safe and Healthy Work Environment
- Adhere to all health and safety practices and promote good housekeeping on an ongoing basis
- Address all unsafe practices and potential hazardous situations and rectify and report to superior
- Comply with SHEC and technical requirements
- Wear applicable Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) at all times
- Ensure compliance to legislation
Skills Management
- Instruct new artisans on relevant equipment
- Quality assure work throughout the section and address deviations through training and instruction
- Report all skills deficiencies as well as required/provided training to the foreman
Technical Support
- Ensure specialized technical support in area of expertise i.e., latest technology and best practice; analysis, interpretation, instrument equipment calibration, problem solving which including interpretation of specialised prescriptive manuals and internet and other relevant material on task at hand
- Develop and implement preventative measures and maintenance to prolong life of equipment, structures, machines etc.
- Train and mentor Artisans
- Interpret and work from sketches, blueprints, wiring diagrams manuals and oral instructions. Manufacture parts of equipment as is, or from new design as required, interpreted from sketches plans or drawings.
- Programme digital equipment/Machines such as (CNC lathes, Industrial pattern cutting machines etc.)
