    Media Planner

    Job Description

    The Media Planner is responsible for effective, analysing, purchasing, booking and administration of time or space that is acquired across all media touch points on behalf of OUTsurance.

    The planner is responsible for ensuring the media appears on-time at the best cost whilst being accountable for managing all investment.

    Media Planner will work closely with the entire media team and provide strong support to the Media team.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Analysing previous media costs and results and subsequently base future planning on the analysis. 
    • Negotiate compensation for non-placement and incorrect media placement and respond to any misplacement or non-placement of advertising.
    • Ensure that written approval is obtained from the Media Manager prior to any booking being made.
    • Providing accurate and detailed information on all bookings.
    • Notification of unavailable spots/positions and suitable alternatives.
    • Balancing back and updating of media bookings to ensure there is not an over-underspend in plans received
    • Co-ordination with finance department to ensure billing ensues correctly and timeously. 
    • Maintaining good media owner relationships.
    • Daily, Weekly and Monthly analysing of stats and reporting thereof.
    • Monthly competitor analysis

    • Ability to consolidate information and demonstrate resourcefulness and make decisions quickly.
    • Aptitude and confidence with numbers – high degree of mathematical ability.
    • Team player and interpersonal skills - ability to build and maintain strong relationships with media owners, creative agency teams and internal colleagues.
    • Trustworthy. 
    • Proven paid for campaign monitoring, excel experience and analytical ability  
    • Good administration skills.
    • Reliable, flexible 
    • Proactive and productive 
    • Completes a reasonable amount of work of acceptable standard, timeously.
    • Money management skills.
    • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
    • Computer literacy with high proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
    • Willingness to learn and accept instructions, correction and supervision and direction.

    Qualifications

    • Marketing Diploma/ Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification.

    Experience: 

    • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a media planning or an analytical role. 
    • A good understanding of the media industry 
    • MS Excel proficient
    • Working on Telmar and/ Nielson - advantageous
