Medical Officer Specialist (Family Medicine) Grade 1
Matric/Senior Certificate/Grade 12. MBCHB or equivalent Degree. Master of Medicine and/or FCFP degree/equivalents. Registration with professional council: Registration with the HPCSA as a Family Physician.
Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a medical Special in Family Medicine, ACLS, ATLS and at least 1 research publications are an added advantage.
Experience required: Grade 1: No experience required after registration as Medical Special with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
Duties :
The successful candidates will be responsible for rendering clinical services at Primary Health facilities in line with specific training curriculum of the Training Family medicine department, assessment, and treatment of patients. Will be expected to carry out related administrative duties, to participate in all activities of Family Medicine which relate to teaching and research.
Participate in department audit activities, prepare, and write reports. Co-ordinate comprehensive medical services in the district. Implemented quality improvement processes to identify and address problems related to patient care and the health system, in consultation with other stakeholders.
Supervision of medical officers, registrars, etc. Participate in District Management structures, especially supporting the District Management team in the implementation of the District Health plan.
In liaison with other stakeholders, provide leadership in the implementation of Primary Health Care re-engineering, school health and ward base PHC outreach teams.
Coordinate and roll out structured, continued professional development program to optimize the knowledge and skills of clinicians in the District (Medical officers, Community Service workers and Registrars).
Physically render specialist Family Medical services to patients across district healthcare facilities and rotate through all services points Participate in commuted overtime in the District.
