Medical Specialist Grade 1 to 3 (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) at Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
• Registration with a professional council: Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
• Experience: Grade 1: None after registration
• Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years' appropriate experience as Medical Specialist after registration
• Grade 3: A minimum of 10 years' appropriate experience as Medical Specialist after registration
• Inherent requirements of the job: Valid (Code B/EB) driver's license, willingness and ability to travel.
• Competencies: Ability to care for Obstetric and Gynaecology patients, including elective, emergency and high-risk cases. Ability to perform necessary ultrasound scans. Possess surgical competency.

DUTIES:

• To coordinate a safe, efficient, cost-effective and appropriate Gynaecology service to patients at Victoria Hospital and the Metro West ecosystem.
• To perform overtime duties, including Obstetric and Gynaecology duties, in the broader Metro West ecosystem.
• To conduct teaching and training of staff and students
• To assist with effective and efficient administration of the Gynaecology service
• To ensure the rational use of resources
• To provide innovation and improvement strategies
