Metallurgist at Sylvania Platinum Limited

Job Description

We are looking for a Metallurgist to provide metallurgical support to the plant management team & ensure that the plant operates effectively according to the agreed business plan and process parameters in order to meet respective safety and product quality and quantity targets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the overall operational management of processing plants, and ensure effective technical operation within the defined processing recipes;
• Assist with implementation of, and maintaining technical standards and procedures in plant;
• Perform metallurgical test work and initiate technical projects in order to optimize plant performance;
• Lead and participate in some process design and commissioning activities as may be required;
• Production debottlenecking and troubleshooting;
• Cost optimization;
• Adequate monitoring and timely reporting of production quantity and quality parameters, metal accounting and performance data collating;
• Ensure adherence to the company’s Health and Safety Standards;
• Good employee relations and effective people management.

Knowledge/Education Requirement:

• Matric Certificate/ Grade 12 (with Mathematics and Science);
• BTech Degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering
• Post Graduate qualification might be advantageous.

Experience and Requirements:

• Minimum 4 years post qualification experience on metallurgical plants
• Must have PGM flotation and Chrome recovery plant experience
• Must have good presentation skills
• Good computer literacy, administration and housekeeping skills are essential
• Must be in possession of a valid certificate of fitness
• Must have a valid code 8 driver’s license and own transport

Other Requirements:

• Reside in close proximity of the operations or be prepared to relocate (Mooinooi, Millsell, Lesedi Plants)
• Prepared to perform routine official stand-by duties as may be required
