Microbiologist at MECS (Pty) Ltd

The successful candidate will be responsible to plan and control Inoculants production activities at the Plant in Durban. Develop, support and motivate the production team to build capacity through coaching, performance management and disciplinary processes.

Requirements:

• National Diploma / NQF6 Biotechnology / Engineering
• Minimum 3 years of industrial experience in agrciultural or food industry or similar
• Minimum 3 years supervisory experience

Duties will include the following:

• To plan and execute Inoculants production - from seed flask preparation to packaging of final product.
• To ensure that all aspects of the Inoculants production department are managed.
• To ensure consistent product quality that conforms to specifications.
• Ensure that process orders are generated for planned production, filled in accurately and submitted timeously.
• Ensure production plan is accurately updated daily and loss accounting actions tracked to completion.
• Ensure efficient plant operation through the application of preventative and corrective maintenance pro-grams in collaboration with Engineering.
• Responsible for leave, management and approval for the Inoculants production team
• Ensure that the production processes and procedures are continually developed and improved upon.
• Ensure that continuous improvement programmes (5Sm RCA, NCM etc.) are maintained and improved in the department.
• To effectively communicate Inoculants production progress and plant performance to production team, site management and other internal stakeholders
• Ensure that a visual management system is maintained in the department to motivate employees towards achieving goals
• To maintain EHS procedures and practices pertaining to the Inoculants Plant
• Ensure that training is conducted according to procedures and statutory requirements (MOC, SOP, WI, RA)
