    Millwright

    Job Description

    • A leading automotive component manufacturing company is looking for an experienced Millwright with strong experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance, PLC fault-finding, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, robotic systems and automated assembly lines to join their team in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving production equipment to ensure maximum machine uptime, production efficiency, quality compliance and adherence to health, safety and environmental standards.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance.
    • Complete maintenance checklists and records accurately.
    • Ensure equipment complies with OEM specifications and safety standards.
    • Perform lubrication and routine equipment inspections.
    • Respond rapidly to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime.
    • Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults.
    • Repair and replace defective components.
    • Conduct root cause analysis on recurring equipment failures.
    • Escalate critical maintenance issues where necessary.
    • Perform electrical maintenance and safely conduct lockout and isolation procedures.
    • Conduct welding and fabrication when required.
    • Assist with PLC fault-finding and machine automation improvements.
    • Support robotic and automated production systems.
    • Assist with machine commissioning and upgrades.
    • Ensure safe working practices at all times.
    • Ensure maintenance activities do not compromise product quality.
    • Ensure compliance with OHSA, customer-specific requirements and quality standards.
    • Participate in continuous improvement, Kaizen and TPM initiatives.
    • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
    • Assist in reducing scrap, downtime and maintenance costs.
    • Support energy-saving initiatives.
    • Perform any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Requirements:

    • Qualified Millwright with a recognised Trade Test (Red Seal).
    • N3–N6 Engineering Studies would be advantageous.
    • 3–5 years' experience in an automotive component manufacturing environment.
    • Experience with press shop equipment, robotic systems, PLC fault-finding, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and automated assembly lines.
    • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
    • PLC knowledge; Siemens, Omron and Allen Bradley experience would be advantageous.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
    • Computer literacy, including MS Office and maintenance systems.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
    • Strong safety awareness.
    • Valid driver's licence and reliable own transport.
    • Ability to work under pressure with a high sense of urgency.
