    Mineral Resources Superintendent Survey (North West)

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    • To lead the Surveying team in providing a totally safe and integrated surveying service in accordance with company standards and the Mine Health and safety Act (Act 29 of 1996)

    BALANCED SCORECARD PILLARS, ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY

    • Identify and assess level of issue based risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
    • Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
    • Manage SHEQ compliance within the Section through effective use of the Toolbox
    • Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status
    • Ensure compliance to all regulatory (MHSA) requirements.
    • Create an accurate, transparent and proactive environment for monitoring and reporting of mineral assets.

    PEOPLE 

    Manage the Section:

    • Ensure an enabling climate/culture
    • Manage labour stability by minimising labour turnover
    • Labour complement in line with budget
    • Achieve HDSA/Female targets for the Section
    • Manage performance against set targets and competencies
    • Ensure IDP’s are linked to performance results and implemented as per plan
    • Conduct career discussions and implement actions with all identified talent (quarterly)
    • Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.)
    • Coach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levels
    • Conduct recruitment interviews

    CUSTOMERS 

    • Ensure Customer Satisfaction
    • Liaise and coordinate with Sites regarding the clarification and understanding of operational performance

    BUSINESS PROCESSES 

    Mineral Resources Management:

    Assist in establishing extent of ore reserves:

    • Short term Mining Plan (1-5 years)
    • Long term Mining Plan (5-20 years)
    • LOM Plans
    • Support overall management of MRM discipline

    Surveying Data:

    • Manage the Surveying Database
    • Mining face (stopping and development) data
    • Plant stockpile’s and reconciliation to determine production / stock 
    • Updating of DMR Mine Plans

    Reports:

    Compile Surveying Reports

    • Weekly and monthly stock reconciliation
    • Annual DMPR submissions

    GROWTH

    • Manage Continuous Improvement through Operational Excellence

    Knowledge:

    • Demonstrate an understanding of Survey principles in the mining industry.

    Requirements

    Minimum qualifications:

    • Degree or National Diploma (Mine Surveying)
    • Mine Surveyor’s Certificate of Competency.
    • 6 years’ relevant experience, preferably 2 years’ managerial experience
