PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To lead the survey team in providing a totally safe and integrated surveying service in accordance with company standards and the Mine Health and Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996).

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY 

Assist the Supt (Chief Surveyor) to:

• Ensure the Mine Health and Safety Act, 1996 (Act No. 29 0f 1996)
• Ensure legal compliance in terms of Chapter 17 of the Mine Health and Safety Act, 1996 (Act No.29 of 1996)

PEOPLE

• Manage direct reports

CUSTOMERS

• Ensure Customer Satisfaction

BUSINESS PROCESSES

• Ensure high level of Standards, Integrity and work output are maintained in the department
• Provide specialized Survey service to the business process
• Short term and long-term planning
• Support the overall management of the MRM discipline 
• Assist with Capital Project management and feasibility studies 
• Underground visits with personnel to conduct planned task observations and safe behaviour observations
• May be appointed in an opencast section

EXPERIENCE : Minimum qualifications:

• Diploma in Mine Survey (Mine Surveying) or C.O.M Advanced Survey and Valuation certificates
• Mine Surveyor’s Certificate Competency (Studying towards)
• Additional qualifications:
• 5 years’ Experience
• Computer Literacy
• Surveying Software (AutoCAD, Winminop, Model Maker)
