National Distribution Manager at Hire Resolve

Job Description

• A leading plastics manufacturing and food packaging company is looking for an experienced National Distribution Manager with strong experience in national warehouse operations, distribution networks, logistics coordination, inventory management and strategic planning to join their team in Olifantsfontein.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee national warehousing and distribution operations across multiple locations.
• Develop and implement strategic plans for warehouse operations and distribution networks.
• Develop and implement standardised operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and efficiency across warehouse locations.
• Implement robust inventory control measures to minimise stock variances and ensure accurate stock levels.
• Develop, implement and maintain detailed inventory control systems, including adherence to First-In, First-Out (FIFO) principles.
• Conduct regular stock takes and reconciliations in accordance with company policy.
• Ensure inventory accuracy and manage stock movements with the support of direct reports.
• Coordinate with third-party logistics providers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers and service providers to secure favourable terms.
• Oversee fleet management and maintenance.
• Implement and monitor quality control processes to maintain high standards of product handling and distribution.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and mitigate risks.
• Lead, mentor and develop warehouse and distribution teams.
• Set departmental objectives and KPIs and review the ongoing performance of direct reports.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement.
• Supervise facilities management and housekeeping activities.
• Fulfil any additional reasonable tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

• Strong experience in national warehouse and distribution operations.
• Experience in strategic warehouse and distribution network planning.
• Experience implementing and maintaining SOPs and inventory control systems.
• Knowledge of stock management, stock takes, reconciliations and FIFO principles.
• Experience coordinating with third-party logistics providers.
• Experience with supplier and service provider contract negotiations.
• Experience in fleet management and maintenance.
• Experience monitoring quality control and conducting operational audits.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop warehouse and distribution teams.
• Experience setting departmental objectives and KPIs and managing the performance of direct reports.
