A recognised National Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, or an equivalent OHS qualification will be an added advantage.
At least 1-2 years' experience in Occupational Health and Safety within an education, public sector, or similar environment.
Valid driver's licence.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
In-depth knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (85 of 1993) and related regulations. Understanding of COIDA, Safety regulations, and other relevant compliance frameworks.
Ability to conduct risk assessments, safety inspections, and hazard identification.
Strong incident investigation and reporting abilities.
Competence in developing and implementing OHS policies, procedures, and safety programmes.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to compile accurate records, reports, and safety documentation.
High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Computer literacy: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Ability to engage with external stakeholders (e.g., Department of Labour, inspectors, contractors).
