    Operations Manager

    About the role    

    • As an Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading and optimising the day-to-day warehouse operations within the Distribution Centre.
    • The role focuses on improving operational efficiency, ensuring compliance with company policies and legislative requirements, maintaining service excellence, and driving productivity through effective workforce planning and stakeholder collaboration.
    • You will play a key role in achieving operational targets, enhancing customer service, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the branch.

    What you'll do    

    • Drive operational excellence through the continuous improvement of distribution centre processes and efficiencies.
    • Collaborate with Transport, Trading, Planning and other key stakeholders to ensure operational deliverables are achieved.
    • Provide input into the DC's Operational budget and driving compliance thereof.
    • Monitor and oversee day-to-day warehouse operations to ensure service, productivity and quality standards are maintained.
    • Forecast workforce requirements and manage production cycles to ensure optimal resource allocation and target achievement.
    • Investigate, resolve and follow up on customer complaints to ensure effective and timely resolution.
    • Monitor operational KPIs and provide weekly and monthly reporting, analysis and recommendations.
    • Ensure full compliance with company policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
    • Maintain and promote health and safety standards to create a safe working environment.
    • Ensure due diligence across all operational processes and controls.
    • Lead, coach and develop operational teams to achieve business objectives and drive a high-performance culture.
    • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Support business improvement initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness, service delivery and cost efficiency.

    What you bring    

    Qualifications

    • Relevant Grade 12 qualification with a tertiary qualification in Agric.
    • Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management or a related field being advantageous.

    Experience

    • 3 - 5 years' experience within a Supply Chain, Warehousing or Distribution environment, particularly within the fresh and perishable arena.
    • Experience managing operational teams in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proven experience in workforce planning, productivity management and operational reporting.
    • Experience driving process improvement initiatives and achieving operational targets.

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
    • Demonstrated leadership and people management capability.
    • Strong planning, organizing and prioritization skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
    • Ability to foster effective team dynamics and collaboration.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
    • Sound understanding of health and safety practices and compliance requirements.
    • Ability to perform effectively in a demanding operational environment.
    • The successful candidate should demonstrate an openness to adopting emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data-driven tools, to enhance operational efficiency, reporting accuracy, workforce planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
