Operator Charging Crew - South32, Wessels Mine at South32

POSITION SYNOPSIS:

• The purpose of the role is to safely assist with charging up of drilled holes with explosives and accessories.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Serious contenders will have Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science/ Grade 10 (Internal candidates) with a of 1-year minimum relevant experience in a mining environment;
• Competency B certificate is advantageous;
• Valid driver’s license is essential.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Prepare Primers in the Primer bay;
• Handle explosives in the mining environment;
• Destroy old explosives in an underground workplace;
• De-water and de-sludge blast holes;
• Handle explosives in the mining environment;
• Charge shot holes with: primed explosives, bulk explosives, cartridge explosives and accessories;
• Barricade charged faces;
• Assist with blasting operations (Blast Guards, etc.);
• Pump water using Submersible De-watering Pumps.
