Operator Gr III, Multi Purpose - Belfast at Exxaro Resources

PURPOSE:

• To operate all Grade III equipment as required.

Minimum Requirements    
QUALIFICATIONS:

• Grade 10/Standard 8 Technical (Essential/Minimum)
• AET Level 4 (Essential/Minimum)

EXPERIENCE: 

• 6-12 months Relevant job-specific experience   (Essential/Minimum)    Operational

REQUIREMENTS: 

• Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum)
• Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum)

Duties & Responsibilities    

• Customer and Client Relationship Management    
• Render professional customer support services.
• Communicate with clients and direct superior to share information on duties performed.

Equipment Operations and Control    

• Operate and control various types of mechanical equipment
• Responsible to do pre-shift inspection of machines, machine parts, and/or components of the production line to ensure production flow according to standards within prescribed processes and procedures
• Report non-conformance/deviation to supervisor
• Assist with preventative and breakdown maintenance
• Some roles only:  Inspect mobile drilling equipment, at beginning and end of shift for oil, air pressure, electrical components, hydraulic functions and general condition for functionality and safety, against checklist
• Continuously observe /monitor component performance against standards to identify any sub performance and report to Supervisor

Financial Management    

• Participate in cost saving initiatives and adhere to financial procedures
• Monitoring and optimizing production and costs within area of control

Maintenance    

• Assume responsibility for the safe and optimal use of equipment and related machinery
• Do minor prescribed maintenance
• Assist during planned maintenance and breakdown recovery
• Responsible for first line maintenance

Production Efficiency   

• Adhere to planned maintenance/production schedules to assist in achieving production throughout
• Ensures optimised process flow within applicable circuit/Machine/s according to process flow chart
• Identify constraints and/or troubleshoot process flow according to predetermined procedure and communicate with Supervisor
• Assist in assuring correct product grade by following controlled processes
• Prepared to be flexible and rotate in the different functional areas
• Assume responsibility for the safe and optimal use of equipment and related machinery
• Take active role in development of multi-skilled work group
• Maintain skills by way of operator re-training programs
• Assist in implementing Quality System in the work area
• Encourage involvement in process/plant improvement projects

Safe and Healthy Work Environment    

• Adhere to all health/safety practices and promote good housekeeping on an ongoing basis
• Address all unsafe practices/potential hazardous situations, rectify and report to superior
• Comply with Safety Health Environment and Community (SHEC) /technical requirements
• Wear applicable Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) at all times
• Promote good housekeeping practices and accept safety responsibility
• Ensure safety rules and regulations are adhered to

Technical Support    

• Some outputs applicable to some roles only and comprises of the following:
• Working in temperature extremes or adverse weather conditions
• Working in several different geographic locations each day
• Working both in and out of a company-owned vehicle
• Wearing appropriate special safety equipment
• Inspect tanks and attached piping components for leaks or unusual conditions and taking corrective action
• Climbing heights
• Maintain injection rates, start up and shut processes;
• Walking, bending, stooping and lifting
• Maintenance of tarred- and gravel roads
• Cleaning and maintenance of water channels by using applicable equipment
• Drilling of holes
• Communicate effectively with line Supervisors / Foremen and related Plant / Mine Personnel
• Render support with ad hoc tasks
