    Operator Grade 1 - Day Shift - Processing

    Job Description:
    As a Operator Grade 1 - Day Shift , you will provide operational services as required and your responsibilities will include: 

    Providing assistance in accordance to company policies to the supervisor and co-workers when instructed or during the absence of the responsible person, to ensure achievement of functional objectives 

    • Analysing Samples and Monitoring Processes . 
    • Collection, transportation, registration, preparation and analyses of all sample types to ensure timely and accurate reporting of results. 
    • Initiating remedial actions within scope of responsibility and report defects and deviations to responsible person, to enable corrective steps being taken. 
    • Monitoring the laboratory process to meet the production requirements including continuous inspection of equipment and related machinery to ensure optimal utilization and availability of process equipment toward maximizing throughput. 
    • Identifying and reporting process deviations, equipment failures and potential risks to the supervisor to enable applicable decision-making, action planning and problem resolution. 
    • Verifying and validate reported test results to meet required compliance and timeframe standards 
    • Preparing equipment for maintenance in the shortest possible time during breakdowns or shutdown to minimize the impact on production. 
    • Adhere to Anglo American compliance requirements and ensure compliance of team. 

    This role is in the Laboratory Department at a Band P5 level reporting to the Section Manager - Laboratory. 

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12/N3 Technical 
    • Driver’s license 
    • Basic computer literacy is required 
    • Medical fitness certificate 

    Experience

    • Up to 2 Years’ experience in a manual and automated laboratory 

    Technical Knowledge

    Operations: 

    • Laboratory specific equipment, manual and automated, tools and process procedures 
    • Chemical substances 
    • Shift inspection procedures 
    • Lock-out procedures 
    • Safety Standards 
    • Company Policies and procedures 
    • Computer literacy: MS Office, Laboratory information management system (LIMS), automated laboratory control system 

    Compliance: 

    • Safety, health and environment, legislative, statutory and regulatory requirements
