Operator Sampler Helper - Wessels Mine at South32

ABOUT THE ROLE:

• This role is a permanent full-time position.
• As an Operator Sampler Helper, you will be to gather information throughout the sampling process, in a safe and sustainable manner, to assist the production team with grade control information.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Stockpile sampling and processing of both underground production samples and surface samples (Road Trucks, Train, Stockpiles, Faces and WC windrows);
• Safely monitor, operate and control activities from a control room and in Sample Tower;
• Maintain housekeeping standards and ensure compliance to sample tower safe operating procedures and lifesaving rules;
• Make use of LIMS to capture processed samples;
• Marking of the faces after the blast;
• Monitoring of loading processes;
• Operating of underground LDV and Manitou;
• Transporting of people and samples underground and submission of samples for laboratory analysis; Reporting of incidents and break downs;
• Provide feedback on performance at Lean Level 1 meetings;
• Partake in reporting of significant events and incident investigations;
• Relieve in the plant operator role when required;
• Make use of Microsoft for capturing and analyzing data.

ABOUT YOU:

• You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
• A minimum  of 1 years’ Mining environment experience is essential;
• Computer literate in MS Office Suite is advantageous.

Qualifications for this role are:

• Serious contenders will have a Grade 10 (internal candidates) - Grade 12 with Mathematics (external candidates);
• Valid Driver’s license is essential.
