    Ops Manager: Onsite Operations - Stores

    Core Description

    • The Stores Manager is responsible for the efficient management of inventory, ensuring optimal stock availability, accuracy, and integrity to support business operations.
    • This role oversees a team, maintains strict compliance with stock control procedures, and ensures the effective handling of physical assets within an ICT environment.
    • As a hands-on and client-facing position, the Stores Manager plays a critical role in coordinating with internal stakeholders to align inventory management with operational demands.

    Key Deliverables / Primary Functions

    • Manage the administration and maintenance of the environment, in alignment with high levels of quality, standards and operability as defined within negotiated and agreed service level agreements, service level parameters or contracts.
    • Monitor and maintain accurate inventory records using inventory management systems.
    • Ensure all stock in trade is accurately managed, maintained in good condition, and recorded in the inventory system, with full traceability from receipt to dispatch.
    • Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile physical stock with system records.
    • Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies in a timely manner.
    • Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure timely stock replenishment.
    • Track inventory movement and generate stock reports for management.
    • Ensure proper storage, labelling, and organization of stock items.
    • Implement and maintain stock control procedures and best practices.
    • Assist in forecasting inventory needs based on historical data and trends.
    • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards in stock handling.
    • Prepare and present regular inventory reports, including stock levels, discrepancies, slow-moving items, and stock valuation.
    • Collaborate with finance and operations teams to support audit processes and provide inventory data as required.
    • Analyse inventory trends and provide actionable insights to improve stock efficiency and reduce holding costs.
    • Supervise and support a small team of inventory or warehouse assistants, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
    • Provide training, guidance, and performance feedback to team members.
    • Be physically present and actively working from the stock room five days a week to oversee inventory operations and team performance.
    • Manage and maintain accurate records of the organization’s physical assets, including tools, equipment, and machinery.
    • Ensure all assets are tracked, tagged, and accounted for in the asset register.
    • Coordinate asset audits and support asset lifecycle management, including acquisition, maintenance, and disposal.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • NQF 6: 3 year Degree/ Diploma/ National Diploma in Business/ Commerce or Information Technology
    • OR NQF 4: Grade 12

    Additional Education -Preferred /Advantage

    Experience

    • 3 years’ experience in stock and asset management, with relevant exposure to ICT infrastructure services, technical support environments and relevant exposure to the specific ICT sector.

    OR

    • 5 years’ experience in stock and asset management, with relevant exposure to ICT infrastructure services, technical support environments and relevant exposure to the specific ICT sector.
