Ops Specialist: IT Network Mgt Services (S6) at Telkom

Core Description    
To provide Tier 1 systems support to ensure reliable ICT Infrastructure Services for NOC and SOC. Responsible for the installation, maintenance, diagnosing problems, analyses, testing, optimisation of services and integration of various technologies in the NMS, Data Centre and Hosting Management System environment. Responsible for and oversee day-to-day monitoring, IT security and decision making concerning the prompt restoration or provision of service in full or partial system failure(s).

• Do network upgrades
• Design solutions according to business needs
• Compile development materials to support customer needs
• Evaluate/Introduce/ Integrate Technical Services
• Compile Policies and Procedures/Guidelines and Specifications
• Provide Tier 1 technical support to ensure reliable ICT Infrastructure Services
• Maintain various integrated technologies in the NMS, Data Centre and Hosting Management System environment. 
• Improve Network/Platform Performance
• Co-ordinate Vendor/Contractor Services
• Conduct special investigations
• Compile project plans
• Install Software/Hardware
• Commission/Accept Installations

Required Certification    

• None

Qualifications    

• Relevant 3 year Degree/Diploma in Networking and or Telecommunications Engineering (at least at NQF level 6) with 3 years' Network Management Service experience.
• Grade 12 (NQF4) with 5 years' relevant Network Management Service experience.

Experience    

• Relevant 3 year Degree/Diploma in Networking and or Telecommunications Engineering (at least at NQF level 6) with 3 years' Network Management Service experience.
• Grade 12 (NQF4) with 5 years' relevant Network Management Service experience.

Special Requirements    

• Full understanding of Network Management frameworks, techniques, concepts and principles.
• Able to work standby duties (willing to be called upon 24 hrs of the day).
• Be prepared to work overtime.
• Have own transport.
