Oracle DBA at Paracon

Responsible for the installation, configuration, upgrade, administration, monitoring and maintenance of complex database environments.

• Implement and monitor database access and configurations.
• Resolve database performance and capacity issues.
• Improve the availability, reliability & stability of all areas and components of the database environment.
• Upgrade, maintain, develop and enhance the database environment.
• Perform database maintenance, recovery and back-up.
• Manage database utilities, monitor the relationship between the database users and applications, and maintain the organization's databases across multiple platforms and computing environments.
• Perform platform maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hotfixes and security configurations.
• Continuously monitor platform performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
• Design and implement systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.
• Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.
• Monitor, optimize, and allocate physical data storage for database systems
• Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
• Provide and design tools to assist in the management of the database and transaction processing environment.
• Develop a methodology for the ongoing assessment of database performance and the identification of problem areas.
• Develop a security scheme for the database environment of database performance and the identification of problem areas.
• Work to provide a working model of the transaction processing environment for capacity assessment and planning.

Critical Criteria:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science.
• 5 - 8 years' experience in MS SQL / Oracle server administration.
• 1 - 3 years' experience in SQL Performance Tuning and Optimization using monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
