Requirements:
● HPCSA registered independent medical practitioner OR SA Nursing Council registered advanced/senior midwife
● Minimum of 5 years’ clinical experience
● Minimum of 2 years’ experience in teaching and training in clinical and classroom settings
● Familiarity with regionalised perinatal care systems
● Excellent interpersonal skills
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
● Fluency in a South African indigenous language in addition to English
Advantageous:
● A higher degree/diploma or courses in health professions education
Responsibilities:
● Teaching, training of students in perinatal care using the primary health care approach for years 3-6
● Contribute to curriculum design and development for years 3 to 6
● Participation in preparation and execution of assessments which include Objective Structured Clinical
Examination (OSCE), performing face to face oral examinations and preparing MCQs
● Ensuring a culture of holistic and patient-centered care in the student teaching space
● Contribute to developing UCT graduates who are clinically skilled and suited to practice in the South African
health care context
The annual cost of employment for 2021 (16 hours per week), including benefits is 306 230.
