    Payroll Specialist - Tygervalley

    The Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing activities related to the processing of monthly payroll including maintaining or updating SAP HR Master Data and organisational structures, coordinating the salary increase and STI payment process through the payroll system, preparing Cost of Employment (COE) statements for Human Resources divisions, when requested and preparing special reports for management in accordance with established policies, procedures and controls. The Salary Specialist is required to have an advanced understanding of the payroll function.

    Key performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

    Provide a cost effective payroll administration service compliant with corporate governance and statutory requirements.

    • Master data and org design updates are processed in compliance with legislation & industry regulations
    • Ensure accuracy of statutory reporting and corporate governance
    • All work related to salary controlling meet prescribed standards for quality and quantity
    • Co-ordinate the salary increase and short term incentive payment processes
    • Creation of data files for all reward related processes, i.e. salary surveys and total reward statements etc.
    • Manage the maintenance of Org Structures on SAP
    • Compile/generate monthly stats and reports, distribute to the business units and / or Centre of Excellence and explain content where required, i.e. Employment Equity, BBBEE quarterly employees, CTC monthly reports etc.
    • Coordinate SAP development and testing to support reward and payroll processes

    Provides an effective and efficient salary controlling administrative service to meet the HR department and business requirements

    • Maintain and update SAP HR Master Data and check system updates for impact.
    • Maintain and update company organisational structures, verifying cost centres and workflows
    • Process batch uploads of bargaining unit and non-bargaining unit salary increases on SAP HR
    • Prepare COE statements for HR divisions on request, usually during their offer process
    • Prepare and provide ad-hoc requests for information / reports, inclusive of information for wage negotiations/IR processes

    Build effective relationships with external and internal stakeholders

    • Foster good relations with all stakeholders to be viewed as trusted business partner for support services
    • Display communication, behaviour and action which result in a high level of credibility and respect among key stakeholders
    • HR queries/cases are resolved within the required timeframes and escalated appropriately, where required

    Continuously review systems and processes to improve efficiency and cost savings

    • Introduce new ideas or improvements to streamline the payroll system and work processes to optimize productivity and reduce cost
    • Staying informed and keeping abreast of company policies, tax legislation and system changes that impact on remuneration and payroll functions
    • Updates/new developments shared timeously

    The successful candidate must have the following qualification, skills and experience:

    • A relevant post graduate financial qualification and or equivalent degree
    • SAP payroll experience will be a strong preference and advantage.
    • Competent in the use of the MS Office Suite (with advanced Excel skills) and SAP
    • Strong skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll accounting system
    • Must have excellent financial analytical skills with ability to interpret and present financial data
    • Ability to act professionally and in confidence at all times
    • Ability to work independently and under pressure
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion
    • Excellent problem solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy
    • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and under pressure
    • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines
    • Detailed knowledge of employee tax and regulations
    • Proficiency in all relevant modules of payroll software, incl. the integration to other systems
    • Detail-orientated and meticulous
    • Must be innovative and self-driven
    • Excellent planning and project management
    • Stand-in duties for the Payroll Manager if and when needed
