    People Team Intern

    Purpose of the Job    

    • Join Shoprite Group as a People Team Intern based in Brackenfell, Western Cape, South Africa, and gain hands-on experience in human resources within a leading retail and distribution organisation. This internship offers exposure to HR functions including recruitment, employee engagement, talent management, and HR data analysis. Ideal candidates will possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in MS Office applications. As an entry-level internship, you will support the People Team in implementing HR projects that enhance workforce effectiveness and contribute to organisational success.     Job Objectives    

    Recruitment Administration

    • Assist with the advertising of vacancies on internal and external platforms.
    • Schedule interviews and communicate with candidates.
    • Compile interview packs and recruitment reports.
    • Conduct reference checks where required.
    • Assist with maintaining recruitment trackers and candidate databases.
    • Monitor recruitment inboxes and respond to candidate queries.

    Onboarding and Employee Administration

    • Prepare onboarding documentation for new employees.
    • Assist with employee induction and orientation processes.
    • Ensure employee records are complete and accurately maintained.
    • Capture and update employee information on HR systems.
    • File and archive employee documentation in accordance with company standards.

    HR Reporting and Analytics

    • Assist with monthly HR reports and dashboards.
    • Support Employment Equity (EE) reporting and workforce planning initiatives.
    • Maintain organizational structures and employee data records.
    • Assist in compiling statistics related to recruitment, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
    • Ensure data accuracy and integrity within HR systems.

    Learning and Development Support

    • Coordinate training bookings and training attendance records.
    • Assist in tracking training interventions and compliance requirements.
    • Prepare learning and development reports as required.
    • Support trainees, graduates, and internship programmes.

    Employee Relations Administration

    • Assist with the preparation of disciplinary, grievance, and consultation documentation.
    • Attend employee relations meetings for learning and administrative support purposes.
    • Ensure confidentiality of employee information and sensitive documentation.

    General People Team Support

    • Provide administrative assistance to People Partners and People Delivery Specialists.
    • Assist with calendar management, meeting coordination, and minute-taking.
    • Support special HR projects and initiatives.
    • Assist with policy communication and employee engagement activities.
    • Maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

    Qualifications    
    Degree in:

    • Human Resource Management
    • Industrial Psychology
    • Labour Relations
    • Or related qualification
    • Not previously participated in a SETA accredited Internship.

    Experience    

    • No prior work experience required.
    • Previous vacation work, or HR administration exposure will be advantageous.
