    Permit Compliance Coordinator - Mokopane

    Job Description:

    As our Permitting Compliance Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating, monitoring of compliance with permits’ conditions by:

    • Developing detailed implementation plan to maintain and monitor conditions detailed in permits, including the process by which to identify each individual condition and requirement attached to a permit, and link it to a responsible person and to a timeframe.
    • Ensuring compliance to commitments detailed in permits and to keep permits in good standing.
    • Preparing and communicating to people responsible for implementation of conditions attached to permits and follow up on the compliance.
    • Ensuring the integration of Technical and other teams in the compliance process.
    • Keeping the permitting manager informed about the results of compliance process as well as the potential risk and mitigation measures.
    • Maintaining the permit register and be responsible for document control to acquire and renew permits. 

    This role is in the Permitting Department at a band 6 level and reporting to the Permitting Manager

    Qualifications:

    You will be required to have the following:

    • Diploma/Degree in a relevant discipline. E.g., Environmental Management, Law, Mining Engineering, Industrial Engineer, Geology, or related disciplines.

    Experience:

    • At least 5 years in similar position in mining or energy companies, law firms, consulting or in a public agency.
    • Experience advising on permitting issues or compliance for new project development in a relevant sector preferably in RSA mining.
    • Experience of working in a large multinational company and international projects, involving different cultures and business environments will be an added advantage.
    • Track record of interfacing with and influencing colleagues at all levels and coordinating disciplines relevant to permitting.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Extensive knowledge of new project development issues and or operation issues within the extractive industries or another relevant sector, if possible, with a strong focus on compliance.
    • Strong understanding of the technical and non-technical factors that affect compliance.
    • Ability to engage across all the disciplines relevant to compliance with conditions attached to permits and ensures effective coordination between these disciplines.
    • Excellent communication skills, orderly work.
    • Broad familiarity with regulatory environments in RSA.
    • Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
    • Computer literate.
