Key Responsibilities
Assist the Lead Civil Designer with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, quantities, cost and schedule
Co-ordinate and check the work of draftspersons in the preparation of contract drawings, record keeping and other statistical work
Produce and maintain technical and engineering drawings using 2D and 3D CAD software as required
Perform conceptual layout work
Develop design details
Check drawings prior to release
Ensure coordination with designers and engineers within the civil discipline and with other disciplines
Perform clash detection of models with other discipline models
Participation in formal engineering review processes
Verify on-site condition and dimensions relating to existing facilities
Construction supervision dependent upon project demands
Incorporate safety in design.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
Engineering diploma (N Dip) or equivalent (civil/structural) Bachelor of Technology (BTech)
Minimum of five years civil design experience
Experience within a large-project, multi-disciplinary EPCM environment
Proficient in the use of 2D and 3D civil design software packages
Knowledge of industry or regulatory standards, regulations and codes pertinent to the design and systems related to the project
Understanding of other discipline requirements
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Good safety awareness.
Preferred
Professional engineering technician (Pr. Techni/PrTech) registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) or as applicable for the specific country
Ability to delegate tasks and effectively supervise others
Experience in the use of Hatch procedures, adopted standard software and workflows in the execution of proj
