    Plant Supervisor - Secunda

    Job Advert Summary    

    • The Plant Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all production processes operate reliably and efficiently to optimise output.
    • This includes effectively managing available resources—such as plant capacity, fleet utilisation, raw materials, and human resources,—to deliver high-quality products on time and in a profitable manner

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate

    National Diploma or Certificate:

    • Concrete Technology
    • Civil Engineering
    • Production Management
    • Operations Management (Advantageous)
    • Concrete Technology Certification will be an added advantage
    • Minimum 3 to 5 years in the Ready-Mix / Concrete / Aggregates Production environment
    • Minimum 2 years as a Supervisor in a Production / Plant Environment.
    • Experience in concrete batching operations  / dispatch coordination
    • Knowledge of RMX production processed & Quality control standards
    • Understanding of concrete mix designs
    • Computer literate (Microsoft Word & Excel)
    • Experience in maintenance of fixed plant equipment (e.g. feeders, belt conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, couplings, etc.) and mobile equipment     

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Ensure production processes run reliably and efficiently to optimise output.
    • Manage and coordinate production, administration, and maintenance activities.
    • Oversee plant and fleet utilisation, ensuring optimal use of equipment and resources.
    • Manage materials, stock levels, and related inspections to ensure availability and control.
    • Control the allocated budget and ensure adherence to financial constraints and forecasts.
    • Ensure all documentation is accurately completed and submitted timeously.
    • Enforce short interval controls in line with company policies and procedures.
    • Conduct regular plant walkabouts, inspections, and enforce housekeeping standards.
    • Ensure maintenance activities such as cleaning, lubrication, and inspections are performed.
    • Manage Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) programmes and compliance.
    • Establish and maintain a safe, healthy, and worker-friendly environment.
    • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
    • Maintain clear and effective communication with staff, customers, and stakeholders.
    • Lead, manage, and monitor the performance of direct reports.
    • Conduct performance reviews and regular one-on-one meetings with team members.
    • Address staff challenges, including HR and industrial relations matters, in line with labour practices.
    • Maintain discipline and take appropriate corrective or disciplinary action where required.
    • Coach, train, and develop employees, including on-the-job training and skills development initiatives.
    • Support recruitment, selection, onboarding, and retention of employees.
    • Approve leave and manage overtime in line with operational requirements.
    • Conduct regular team meetings, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
    • Ensure high levels of morale, integrity, and work ethic within the team.
    • Prioritise and execute plant projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Work overtime when required to meet operational demands
