A position has become available for a Tractor Driver for our Research and Development Department based on our Jacobsdal Research Farm. The purpose of this role is to transport materials, plow fields, plant seeds, harvest crops, apply fertilizers, and perform tractor maintenance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Driving and carrying out regular maintenance and repairs of tractors and other farm implements.
Operating tractors safely and efficiently.
Performing inspections of tractors and attachments like graders, rollers, and plows, and ensuring they are well-lubricated.
Using tractors to transport materials and pull or push agricultural equipment.
Prepare fields for planting.
Harvest vegetables by hand or machinery.
Apply pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers to crops.
Inform Farm Manager on progress of crops.
Operate farm equipment to spray pesticides on weeds along roadside and perimeter of fields to keep weeds down.
Slashing grass along roads and water ways
Grading roads
Assists with all farming activities as requested by the farm manager
REQUIREMENTS:
Tractor Driving License
Experience in farm equipment and the farm industry
Extensive knowledge of heavy equipment.
Experience performing maintenance on tractors and other farming equipment.
