Job Advert Summary    

• Unitrans is seeking to employ an experienced Point Controller. The incumbent plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the bus network by overseeing the coordination and management of bus routes, schedules, and point locations. This position is responsible for ensuring that buses adhere to their timetables, minimising delays, and ensuring passenger safety.
• The Point Controller will also be responsible for managing communication between drivers, operations staff, and control centers to ensure that buses arrive at scheduled points on time.

Minimum Requirements    

• Required qualification: Grade 12 / Matric / NQF level 4
• Experience in a similar role: 3 years or more

Duties & Responsibilities    

• Route Management: Monitor and manage bus schedules, ensuring buses follow the correct routes and timetables.
• Real-Time Communication: Act as a point of contact for drivers, communicating route changes, delays, and traffic conditions.
• Problem Resolution: Respond to and resolve issues such as delays, diversions, or vehicle breakdowns promptly.
• Coordination with Operations: Collaborate with the operations team to ensure proper bus allocation, especially during peak times.
• Reporting: Maintain accurate logs and reports on bus operations, including incidents, delays, and deviations from schedules.
• Safety and Compliance: Ensure that buses and drivers comply with safety standards, operational guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Customer Service: Address customer inquiries related to bus schedules, routes, and delays.
