Job Summary

Job Description

• Candidate with BCom finance/quantitative degree and proven working experience within an Investment Banking environment in a business reporting/finance role or in market risk, capital adequacy or liquidity role to join Financial Resource Management team and assist the firm in monitoring large lending transactions, client returns, portfolio returns and business cases for both Johannesburg Loan Operating Committee (JLOC) and Business Selection Committee (BSC) whilst cognizant of associated risks and Portfolio Management frameworks. The position requires extensive knowledge of Economic and Regulatory Capital, the practical interpretation and implementation thereof in Portfolio Analysis. Pricing methodologies and the application thereof (expected loss and term structures) are key requirements. The analyst will work directly in the Private Side Portfolio team and interact with deal teams across both Product and Coverage.

More specifically the role requires the following:

DEAL ACTIVITY MONITORING:

• Maintain a continuous pricing comparison and provide guidance on JLOC and BSC transaction submissions in terms of transaction structure, risk, funding and pricing with specific focus on Regulatory and Economic Capital consumption.
• Attend JLOC and BSC meetings and assist in ensuring minutes accurately reflect decisions made, check recorded minutes, and interact with JLOC Co-ordinator.
• Capture and maintain JLOC/BSC transaction register in terms of pricing trends, success and failure profile and provide insights and trend analysis to a wider audience.
• Monitor all deal implementations and update the JLOC database with the updated detail and incorporate credit requirements.
• Monitor and flag sub-200m transactions, derivative, Trade Finance and WC transactions not presented at JLOC.
• Active involvement with deal teams in the construction of a detailed ancillary database on three-year business case forecasts and track JLOC and BSC ancillary business promise.

PORTFOLIO REPORTING:

• JLOC reporting covering client and product profitability analysis based on economic and regulatory capital requirements and subsequent performance.
• Credit portfolio performance, taking into account trends in the back-book, with the view to optimise financial resource allocation, including formulating the internal portfolio credit risk outlook measured against external market signals.

PORTFOLIO RESEARCH:

• Consultation with quantitative team on methodologies used for economic capital calculations.
• Active engagement with Credit team on credit risk appetite and stress testing, including credit earnings at risk and evaluation against Mandate and Scale parameters with specific focus on risk and return principles.

Education

• Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
