Job Description:
The Principal – Renewable Energy Ecosystem is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the Group renewables ecosystem action plans and ensures that the plan is aligned with the company strategy and informed by leading technology, market and policy developments.
Key responsibilities:
Set Business Expectations.
Benchmark and establish Group guidance for integrated renewable energy ecosystem management (cross border and cross business).
Lead the design of the virtual regional energy platform, with focus on System/Mine interface enabling electricity demand planning and optimized supply and price benefit.
Operational planning.
Work Management.
Ensure the renewables capability enhances delivery of the Group Living Mine to sustainable economy Programme, with focus on;
Horizon 2 – secure, affordable clean energy; clean fuel for mobility; water security and access; productive agriculture
Horizon 3 – Green Hydrogen industry and export (e.g. steel; ammonia)
Develop and support implementation of renewable energy community projects
Manage the Carbon Neutrality 2030 agenda and delivery Programme, at Site and on a consolidated Business Unit and Group basis.
Lead the Group inputs to industry bodies on energy, electricity supply/pricing, and Hydrogen policies.
Lead engagements with Eskom on energy supply reliability.
Co-ordinate with carbon neutrality workstreams, including Energy Storage and Permitting.
Develop technical expertise in all matters to do with energy and environmental control.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree Engineering / Science (Essential)
Commercial or Business Postgraduate Degree (Desired)
Technical Knowledge:
Experience with developing and implementing systems in solving technical or sustainability challenges.
Experience in utility scale Energy systems management.
Experience in Renewables and Energy Storage technologies.
Understanding and awareness of emergent technologies.
Experience with capital projects and leading a multi-disciplinary team.
Capabilities and experience of interacting at a Senior Corporate Executive level, and within government up to Ministerial level.
Organisation:
The role reports to the Head of Renewable Energy Ecosystems, within Group Carbon Neutrality.
