Principal Specialist: Retail Business Support at Vodafone Global Enterprise

Role purpose:

The role of Principal Specialist: Retail Business Support is to support the Retail Operations teams with respect to financial and operational reporting systems and control improvements, including but not limited to frameworks with specific focus on the retail channel and providing recommendations to further improve risk mitigation and information channels.
This will also include reviewing the systems in place to optimise the system functionality to ensure accurate commercial reporting.  
In addition this role will also provide reporting to support the commercial operations of the department in achieving its key strategic goals.

Your responsibilities will include:

• System and process review and recommendations for improvement.
• Development and execution of implementation plan to address identified improvements
• Solution co-creation within ROPs team and data analytics teams for data stewardship.
• Review reporting quality on newly implemented solutions and systems.
• Review and development of models to formulate budgeting estimates for complex transactions, e.g. IFRS 16. 
• Develop the Fit for growth programme with the various business units within ROPS and thereafter manage the deliverables against the programme to realise cost/process efficiencies.
• Data mining and analysis to support regular and ad hoc reporting requirements for ROPS to assist with decision-making. 
• To identify and propose areas of cost containment in terms of approved contracts.
• Create and manage sound collaborative  relationships with multiple touch points i.e. business partners , internal stake holders as well as strategic parties that impact business operations
• Manage a specialised team to provide cross-functional services across finance and business intelligence areas within commercial support.
• Manage both direct and indirect teams to deliver desired outputs
• Identify behavioural and coaching requirements in line with people plan.  
• To meet regularly with all relevant business stakeholders followed up by well-documented minutes to ensure efficient service delivery and tracking of projects and plans.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

• BCom degree in accounting
• Registered CA (SA)
• CIMA qualification would be an advantage
• 8 Years post articles  working experience in Commercial and/or corporate Finance – Essential
• At least 3-5 years in risk identification and mitigation  – Essential
• At least 3-5 years Data analytics – Essential 
• Telecommunications experience an advantage
• Must be willing to work long hours and travel when required
• Must be willing to cross train in other divisions to gain a better understanding of the business
