Process Engineer at Bidvest Tank Terminals

Job Advert Summary    

• A position for a Process Engineer has become available within the Process Safety Department of BTT Richards Bay.
• The main purpose of the job is to provide technical expertise with respect to process design, process safety and project management. To deliver the best business sustainable solutions for process related projects in the Richards Bay and Isando Business Units.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Excellent understanding of relevant API/SANS/ASME/NFPA and other statutory standards/best practices
• Strong knowledge of the technical support, troubleshooting and process engineering features of refinery or storage tank facility equipment
• Strong Technical writing (engineering reports)
• Engineering analysis and understanding engineering first principles
• Ability and willingness to travel 

Minimum Requirements    

• BSc. or BTech. Chemical Engineering
• 5 years’ experience as a Process Engineer in Petrochemical Industry or similar
• Process Design experience
• Process Safety experience
• ECSA Pr. Eng. registration (or equivalent) would be advantageous
• Project management qualification would be advantageous
• Previous process simulation modelling experience would be advantageous

Duties and Responsibilities    

• Provide support in the implementation and continuation of the BTT RBI Process Strategy
• Manage the implementation of all Process related projects
• Complete Product Risk Assessments within the required time.
• Provide Process related expertise for all topics requiring such within BTT
• Assess Contractor designs and question validity of recommendations and provide improvements.
• Implement feasibility studies for all sustainability projects
• Develop continuous improvement projects for RB and Isando  
• Participate in Process Safety departmental walk-abouts for each of the operational areas within BTT RB and Isando
• Lead an effective and efficient process related project management strategy for RB and Isando
• Manage external and internal customer satisfaction
• Manage overall Capex Budget for process related projects
• Plan, organize and execute all projects within agreed time, cost and scope budgets
• Develop BTT standards for different type of process engineering designs
• Responsible for effective communication with BTT Projects Department
• Provide support to all project related HAZOP/LOPA/SIL workshops and subsequent requirements
• Develop and manage feasibility studies and solutions for HAZOP/audit findings with respect to process related projects.
• Use simulation software e.g. AFT Fathom to provide detailed pump and hydraulic assessments when required.
