Short Description / Purpose of Job

• Support process engineering strategy by meeting production targets, providing process engineering technical support, and identifying improvement opportunities.
• Provide technical input into compilation and execution of test-runs, studies, improvement initiatives, and daily assurance process.
• Provide input into driving and supporting Process Safety management studies, initiatives, and defined compliance plans.
• Conduct shutdown inspections and enable equipment functionality and integrity.

Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

• Support the updating of the baseline process engineering data as per the business process requirement.
• Develop and maintain short term monitoring tools to be used by the production team. Also ensure that plant personnel are trained and understand how to use the tools.
• Provides inputs to asset health monitoring tools to enable process health prediction of specific equipment on your unit.
• Provide process engineering input to Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and attend to process engineering queries as requested on an ad hoc basis for allocated units.
• Close out process engineering actions from process safety incident RCAs within the agreed timelines. 
• Conduct annual performance audits on allocated units and identify / mitigate possible threats to the baseline performance.
• Represent the plant for all safety related tasks w.r.t projects and plant process safety management e.g. HAZOPs when required.
• Monitor energy usage for allocated units and recommend corrective actions to stay within the baseline limits.
• Compile and distribute the weekly & monthly (as required) plant performance reports as per predefined content, on time.
• Assist in driving reduction of process deviations requiring process engineering solutions.
• Complete process engineering actions, such as monitoring of leading indicators and gathering of process data, in support of volume protection plans.
• Deliver on allocated technical improvement initiatives as per the team’s technical improvement plan and ensure continuous updating of progress as per the team’s requirements.
• Support the development of pre shutdown reports on allocated units.
• Ensure process requirements, from a unit perspective, are incorporated in the shutdown plan.
• Ensure your shutdown period responsibilities (w.r.t. inspections, pre-startup reviews, commissioning support, running plant support, etc.) are agreed upon beforehand and actioned during shutdown.
• Support the development of post shutdown reports on allocated units.
• Provide the relevant inputs from your allocated unit into the technical input forecasting tool for the value chain as per the requirements of the monthly technical planning cycle.
• Ensure that any plant modifications on allocated units, involving process changes, are subjected to rigorous risk and safety reviews as defined in the applicable project implementation model including Management of change.
• Develop project proposals, allocated to you, to gate 1 as per the team’s plans, with specific focus on, but not limited to, less complex projects within your allocated units.  
• Provide support throughout the development of projects, with the focus of achieving each project’s technical objectives at the final performance test. The focus is expected to be mainly on less complex small projects limited to allocated plants
• Support identification and implementation of documentation, monitoring tools, OWAP etc. as required to take over technical support for new plant additions to your facilities, and ensure these are in place prior to taking over technical support on these plant additions.
• Ensure your performance plan is in place, with responsibilities and accountabilities agreed and clearly understood.
• Actively buddy of Engineers in Training within the team.
• Providing day to day supervision on specific actions of vacation work student as well as actively coaching of vacation work students in the team.

Formal Education

• University Bachelor's Degree (BEng/BSc Chemical)
