Job Advert Summary    

• This role serves as a key interface between the organisation and its chemical and paint suppliers, ensuring that high-quality chemical and paint batches are consistently supplied to the site. The incumbent will evaluate supplier laboratory reports and technical data to confirm that materials meet the required quality and performance standards before approval for use.
• The role is also responsible for monitoring and evaluating Paint Shop processes, materials, consumables and related operating conditions. This includes overseeing activities from batch approval and material introduction through to ongoing process optimisation. The incumbent will work closely with relevant internal teams and suppliers to identify opportunities to improve material performance, process efficiency, quality and cost effectiveness, while supporting the Paint Shop’s operational and budget optimisation objectives.
• The engineer must understand the purpose, process parameters, equipment, materials, quality requirements, safety risks, control methods, and upstream/downstream impact of each process stage.

Minimum Requirements    

• Tertiary education in chemistry, degree or diploma.
• 5 years in depth understanding of Paint Processes in a Paint Shop environment.
• Experienc ein hazardous chemical substances.
• Experience in usage of equipment used in laboratory testing.
• Understand chemical composition and and characteristics of paint and paint related materials.
• Paint Shop defect analysis, identification and root cause analysis.
• Management of chemical process laboratory.
• Sound knowledge of paint and paint shop sealer chemical properties.
• Sound knowledge of paint defect repair processes including paint repair  of completed vehicles.
• Sounds knowledge of Change Control process.
• Sound knowledge of Paint Industry standards and performing testing.
• In depth knowledge of paint chemistry
• Ability to understand describe and interpret of paint colour results (Byc Mac).
