Bidvest Tank Terminals is looking to fill a Process Safety Engineer position, to be based within the Durban Business Unit and reporting to the SHEP Manager. The candidate must meet the following minimum criteria:
Minimum Requirements
BSc /Btech in Chemical Engineering
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Process or Process Safety Engineer in a Petrochemical industry
Incident investigation experience essential
ECSA Pr. Eng registration (or equivalent would be advantageous
Risk Management experience would be advantageous
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide support in the implementation and continuation of the BTT Process Safety Strategy
Lead and facilitate multi-disciplinary workshops with respect to implementation of Process Safety Elements
Proactive management of all Incident investigations on site
Lead all Incident investigations
Accountable for close out of Incident reports within 14 days
Apply root cause analysis techniques (RCAT, 5 whys etc.)
Provide monthly trending analysis on all Incidents
Update Isometrix system for incident management
Create and monitor Process Safety Lead & Lagging Indicators
Conduct PSSRs (Pre-Start-up Safety Reviews) for medium to large projects
Facilitate and review HAZOPs/LOPAs/SILs exercises
Lead workshops on implementation for selected elements of the Process Safety Strategy
Participate in IMS system updates to comply with legal and business requirements
Follow up all outstanding findings to ensure gaps closure
Report on all audits and highlight major findings as well as recommendations
Ensure site Risk assessment (RA) are updated
All action for SHEP department, from RA ‘s, are captured and tracked
Ensure a risk reduction program is in place and completed
Complete the 5-year HAZOP plan for the Durban Region
