Degree in Engineering (Chemical/Mechanical) or equivalent
Qualification in process safety.
Expert knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements management systems and industry process standards
Experience
10 years’ experience in safety management in a chemicals and/or explosives manufacturing environment
Process Safety knowledge
Practical experience in the implementation of programs to enhance process safety management
Demonstrable experience in conducting and facilitating process safety incident investigations
Duties
Facilitate and manage the Group’s Process Safety Management (PSM) System
Monitor and assess implementation of process safety elements
Manage internal and external audits for PSM
Identify and monitor process and safety risks, within both existing businesses and acquisitions (including country specific risks)
Facilitate and conduct process and safety related incident investigations
Provide specialist process safety-related advice to business SHE practitioners
Provide guidance on process safety to the business, to reduce the Group exposure in this area
Conduct process and safety-related due diligence work on potential acquisitions
Assess process and safety risks on major projects
Manage process and safety risks on disposals and shut-downs
Identify Group process and safety risks
Evaluate the management of group process and safety risks
Formulate safety policies and guidelines
Review process safety engineering capability deliverables from Omnia Divisions and contractors
Work in collaboration with Managers throughout the Omnia Group
Participate in formulating and mentoring process safety training activities
Represent the Group at industry ,regulatory, national and/or international level when requested
Serve as source of advice and expertise to Group businesses
Expertise in fire and safety engineering standards such as API, SANS
Demonstrated expertise in applying root cause analysis in process safety event investigations
Track record leading ideas generation, translation of these into practical initiatives with demonstrated success in Process Safety Management in an operational context
Track record of operational experience within a multi-operation mineral, petrochemical, chemical, manufacturing, or related industry
