    Procurement and Logistics Manager

    Procurement and Logistics Manager

    MiX Telematics has a vacancy for a Procurement and Logistics Manager. The position is based in Stellenbosch, Cape Town and reports to the Financial Director. The company would hereby like to invite all interested candidates who feel they meet the minimum requirements to apply for the position.

    Purpose:

    • Managing and performing of procurement and supply chain management in order to achieve the most cost-effective processes for the company.

    Responsibilities:

    • Implement procurement and logistics strategy and policies
    • Communicate with the remainder of MiX group to determine future stock forecast requirements
    • Ownership of monthly stock forecast meetings
    • Using the forecast to determine the products and quantities that need to be placed at various manufacturers and suppliers
    • Prepare purchase requisitions, approve and issues purchase orders in accordance with company policy and negotiated terms and conditions
    • Ensure that all areas of procurement are managed effectively, including material control, inspection, expediting, logistics, close out and measurements.
    • Management of non-conforming product and product returns
    • Price negotiation on certain products and components
    • Coordinating and controlling the order cycle and associated information systems
    • Analysing data to monitor performance and plan improvements
    • Build and develop relationships with manufacturers, suppliers and customers
    • Overall responsibility for :
      • Managing staff
      • Forecasting of requirements
      • Procurement
      • Customer order management
      • Allocating inventory
      • Inbound and outbound logistics
      • Documentation
      • Physical warehouse processes
      • Inventory management
      • Import and export administrative processes
      • Price and Costing review of ordered products
      • Reporting on department, monthly or as required
      • Ensure compliance with regulations, i.e. IATA, Financial & Auditing, others

    Skills and Competence:

    • Extensive overall supply chain management and project management skills
    • Good communication skills across all functions and levels
    • Strong analytical troubleshooting and problem resolution / solving skills
    • Good time management skills and the ability to prioritise projects and process multiple tasks
    • Hands-on leader with a good sense of responsibility
    • Ability to take the initiative and make decisions
    • Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to build good relations both internally and externally
    • Ability to move others to take action
    • Attention to detail

    Qualifications:

    • Relevant 3 year qualification (Supply Chain Management or comparable)
    • 5 -10 years’ experience in logistics and procurement management
    • Microsoft Office with advance Excel skills
    • Knowledge of electronic components and manufacturing
    • Understand import, export, customs and taxation
    • Have a degree of understanding regarding contracts
    • Exposure to international logistics environment is advantageous
    • Microsoft Dynamics AX experience is advantageous
